Charlton Heston was skinny fat (before the term even existed!)

He was 48, and i wish the producers gave him 6 months of weight training prior to filming, they would've made his shirtless scenes much more bearable, instead of him being all saggy and toneless!

On a side note: Loved the (pre-cgi) production design and the music, but the acting mainly sucked ass except for Charlton Heston & Anthony Zerbe, obviously.

I thought Heston was in decent shape in "The Omega Man." Maybe the OP is actually thinking of Heston's next sci-fi movie from just a couple years later: "Soylent Green." In that one, he didn't look so great with his shirt off. He should have done more to keep in better condition between these two movies. By this time in Hollywood movies, it was already becoming common for male stars to stay in pretty good physical condition, and the studios even sent their stars to gyms to get into better condition.

For instance, compare Charles Bronson, who was two years OLDER than Heston but looked like he didn't have an ounce of body fat on him!

Nobody really cared about abs back then, they just weren't a thing. They were mostly into big shoulders and biceps.
