Le Mans scene

I saw this movie in the theater when it was first released and I distinctly remember a scene that is missing from the DVD. The scene is shot from the end of the Mulsanne straight looking back at the Dunlop bridge. The camera is positioned at the end of the straight and shows the cars as they come up under the bridge, then down-shift for the turn, cars twitching with each shift. The camera slowly pans in on the track until all you see is the track and one car, the cars seeming to explode out of the ground as they crest the hill. Am I remembering a scene from another movie or did this get edited out of the DVD?

There's a scene at 27 min 29 sec on my DVD which almost matches your description. A correction though, the Dunlop bridge is just after the kink on the pit straight and not over the Mulsanne straight.

The scene I'm remembering lasts over a minute with the camera slowly panning in until all you see is each car as it pops up, almost exploding out of the track. I've watched 2 DVD's of Le Mans and haven't found the scene.
