*The* Racing movie

Keep in mind when watching Le Mans that the Porsche 917s shown are the real predecessors to the 917/30 of 1973 that set world speed records. These vehicles churned out ~1000hp in their day and weighed less than 2000 lbs. If you are an automotive enthusiast you will love this movie. Don't let the nit-pickers dissaude you, the crash scene of McQueen's is spot-on and has the genuine feel of loss of control.

For those fortunate enough to have driven powerful vehicles this movie is a must. The engine sounds alone are worth it. No phony bravado, no CGi, just cool cars & Steve McQueen who is cool without even trying.

I'd like to know if you consider my post condemning the sped up scenes as nit picking.

As a fellow auto enthusiast I don't love this movie for that simple fact. I can live with the rest but those scenes were abysmal to anyone who's ever seen a race car in person and know how it looks for real.

There was simply no excuse to do this in this movie as it detracts horribly from an otherwise fine effort. They have footage of 200+MPH race cars and try to make them look like they are moving 300MPH. Inexcusable.

What sped up scenes? Pal, I'm a trackside marshaller during the weekends and believe me when I say that NOT ONE scene in the movie was sped up. The depicted speeds are real, if not a little reduced when filmed from the tracking car.
