I noticed in the film there's a quick shot of the real-life JW Gulf Porsche driver Jo Siffert; walking pre-race, carrying his Swiss-flag helmet.
Are there any other driver sightings in the movie I might have missed?
Also, before the race, with his back to the camera and wearing a yellow jacket is someone who looks a lot like Pedro Rodriguez, the other big Porsche factory driver at the time. But he's too far away to verify this.

Just re-watching it on Blu-Ray. Siffert is the obvious one. God, is that actually his wife with him in the pits? How prophetic, considering the plot element about Belgetti's wife being haunted by her husband's fiery death.
Can you imagine seeing this in theatres during the original release?
"Hey, who's that guy Siffert?"
"He's a real racer. Was. Just got roasted alive in a crash...."
Ugh. I wonder what McQueen felt when he heard the news. "Oh great, we've got a clear shot of him during the open talking to his wife."
