Fact over fiction

Le Mans is as close as you can get to an actual endurance race in 1970/1971. It's the closest you can get to racing at that time. "Grand Prix" is close but it has the added drama of the characters outside of motorsport to create the melodrama story. Not that there is anything wrong with the depiction of Formula 1 racing in the 60's in "Grand Prix".

Le Mans is an event, plain and simple. In the late 60's early 70's it was a battle ground for Porsche, Ferrari, Lola, McClaren, Matra Simca (Chrysler)GM with Corvette, Ford with the GT40 MkI through MkIV, to prove that they were the best of the best.

This was a time when Henry Ford II, Porsche, and Ferrari wanted to prove who was the best.

It's more documentary about the passion, the danger, and the win at all cost mentality.

As for a remake, reboot, re-image, leave it alone. It doesn't need "Star Power" CGI, or 3-D. It stands on it's own.

Besides, who wants another "Driven" or "Days of Thunder" or http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099245/
