Friedkin's commentary is quite compelling. He does on occasion mis-remember some of the facts of the case and film (the case took place in 1961-62, not the 1970's, and some parts of the chase were sped up in the camera), but overall, it's a compelling listen that an avid viewer like myself can learn from.

One thing I learned, not about, but from The French Connection was that you can carelessly and viciously strip a car into a few thousand little pieces in a short period but can put it all together again and looking better than new in just four hours.

I'm surprised this article didn't take the opportunity to point out that in movies today, stripping a car would be CG, seemed to be the mantra of the site.
