This one scene bugs me.......
When frog 2 sniper decides to take out Popeye from the rooftop.
Why not hit him close up like he did with the French cop in the beginning of the film?
Stupid & sloppy ...
I still love the movie.though
There could be several reasons.
When the hitman shot the cop in France, it appeared to be in a less congested building, where he could lie in wait without being out of place. In the NYC apartment building, assuming he even knew which apartment Doyle resided in, he would most likely stand out and be noticed by Doyle when he came home.
Additionally,it appeared that Doyle kept unusual hours, which would make it more difficult to determine for the would be assasin when he needed to be there, whereas he could spend more time waiting on the roof without arousing suspicion.
Lastly, it made for a better scene in the film.
This was on TCM Saturday and I still feel bad for the poor woman who got shot
