Actually I loved the ridiculous plot, awful songs, and the fact that it is nearly impossible to decide which was more horrendous, BS's acting or direction.

No, personally I'd say "Fiddler on the roof" was an A

but "Yentl" wasn't even an F, it's beyond nauseating. The songs are sickening. Barbra's songs are annoying. It's just atrociously bad.

"Fiddler", on the other hand, has really catchy songs and an atmospheric, all-encompassing vibe. And you constantly keep hearing 'TRADITIONNNNN, TRADITION, tralala tralalal tralalala lei lei lei' every so often ...just so good.

Fiddler has better plot, but Yentl had better songs (you cant' beat Bab's voice).

I can imagine Yentl being as young as Tevye's daughters once upon a time.

The time period, is pretty close if not the same. Yentl definitely had more money being the Rabbi's daughter.

"Fiddler On The Roof" is a timeless classic. "Yentl" was a self indulgent Barbara Streisand movie. Babs directed, co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in that mediocre film. I guess I know who to blame.
