In the Tradition monologue before the main credits, there's a scene where Tevye is talking about the Gentiles in the town of Anatevka. He says, "We don't bother them, and so far they don't bother us." After we see the Priest and the Constable, we then see two Russian men playing chess. One of them is blonde. Does anyone know if that is Fyedka (Raymond Lovelock)? Thanks.

You know, I think it was. Like you, I recall re-watching sometime ago, & noticing him there. Would make sense, since in that opening sequence, everyone is being introduced.

A clue alerted me to the fact that it might be him. You see, I read a review of this movie that said a chessboard was fastened to Fyedka's back when he and Chava said goodbye to Tevye and his family for the last time, in the closing minutes of the film. If I had not read that review, I would never have noticed that chessboard in a million years. And that's when I remembered the chess game in the opening sequence, and I put two and two together.
