A new Dirty Harry?

Clint Eastwood should make one final Dirty Harry movie. If this were to happen with Eastwood in the starring role, what would be your idea for the story?

Here's mine:

Harry, being considered too old by the police department (who are fed up with Harry's rule-breaking over the years) to work as a regular law enforcer, is forced to serve as a high school security guard. He teaches some teenage punks a thing or two before being called in for active duty to help with a case related to one investigated by Callahan years ago. Harry proves to the police that even in old age, he still has it in him to strike vengeance and bring justice.

I figure it would be a job that Harry would hate but would be forced to take on since he wants to continue the police force and a lot of police station assign old police officers to be high school security guards.

I hope that Clint doesn't do a 6th DH movie, IMHO they should have stopped after Magnum Force.

The first two were classics. Enforcer and Sudden Impact were decent films but nowhere near as good as you expect from Clint, they suffered from the "law of diminishing returns" that applies to sequels.

Dead Pool was mediocre, watchable in it's own right but an insult to the first two.

I wouldn't be averse to a remake of Dirty Harry set in modern times with Clint on the director's chair but his acting duties limited to a cameo.

Now who would you cast for the acting roles?

Dirty Harry is one of the worst and most insulting ideas of a remake. Dirty Harry is one of THE landmark films. Clint Eastwood IS Dirty Harry. That would be taking the man's role away from him. Lets show some films some respect. Psycho was another big mistake. Perhaps the most trend setting and taboo busting film ever made. It changed cinema forever. To totally respect a film it should be left alone. You can never duplicate the success or phenomena these films created. Clint Eastwood should always be Dirty Harry, just like Peter Sellers should have always been Inspector Clouseau.

I agree about Enforcer (the only DH move not to have a snappy quip) & Dead Pool but Sudden Impact was great--AND it had the highest body count by Harry in any of his movies-I think he 'iced' something like 20+ people in this film?

I'd rather they did movies taking place in the 70s and 80s and eventually later maybe. I'd try Hugh Jackman perhaps as Harry and make the films fill in the gap between The Enforcer and Sudden Impact.

Dirty Harry 6 should've been done back in the early 90s.

Gran Torino could have been a Dh movie with a few script tweaks
