Did Scorpio's actions in 'Dirty Harry' bring about the rise...

...of the rogue cops in "Magnum Force"? I know this isn't stated directly or even inferred in Magnum Force...but it made me wonder.

"Magnum Force" came about to show that there was a line Harry would not cross as a cop. It was never implied that the rogue cops were inspired by the actions of Scorpio.

I appreciate your response...yeah I agree that this is what Magnum Force is about as it pertains to Harry; I was thinking more in line with what would've brought rise to the rogue cops to begin with (nothing but pure fan speculation of course).

In other words, could Scorpio's menace have been the catalyst or the 'straw that broke the camels back' which brought rise to this particular group of cops going outside of the law to bring criminals like Scorpio (or any type of criminal) to what they felt was justice? I think this is something that could've been explored a bit in Magnum Force...it also would've tied it in a little more with Dirty Harry.

Let me make clear I've got no problems with Magnum Force -- I'm just in a wondering kind of mood today.

No. This just seemed like they viewed themselves as an elite force above Gov' involvement.
Why that would grow out of the first film's plot I don't know? It almost seemed like a RW version of the kids that want to shoot their high school up. I don't know what Holbrooke's ultimate goal was.

Rogue cops exist in reality but not because of ideology (which I'm sure many have) but more certainly because of common corruption. Maybe they're selling drugs, cheating on exams, covering up brutality that type of stuff. Money reasons.

If Scorpio was the reason, I can't really say I blame them then.
