I read the book about ten years before I got to see the film and the novel is far more detailed and descriptive. I found the film to be a 'sketch' of the events described in the print version.
The novel is quite hard going at first with its corrupted made-up language but eventually it all falls into place.
The dress code of the droogs is very different to the filmed version but probably just as bizarre in its own way.
To me, the film is a distilled version of the novel, often typical in such adaptations.
The novel is both very frightening and very funny, and downright odd and original---reccomended but not a pleasant read.
