Longstreet is basically a spinoff of Ironsides, an attempt to make a detective/investigator/hero out of someone with a handicap. It is a pure gimmick and totally absurd. Why not a tv show about a surgeon with no hands? Also if the networks want to do a stupid show like these, why not use actual actors with handicaps instead of James Franciscus (Longstreet) or Raymond Burr (Ironsides). MEtv is full of this crap: Emergency, Adam-12, Dragnet, and others from Jack Webb/Universal barrel of swill.

Franciscus and Burr were established professional actors with extensive resumes that the producers knew would attract viewers. There were no handicapped professional actors of that caliber.
