Archie gets what?
If they did that it should be a couple they know or Mike and Gloria. Archie and Edith's marriage was a highlight.
shareShelters really weren't 'mainstream' aka picked up by media as a valid need until the 1980's. The series itself actually did show domestic violence much earlier w Archie telling Edith to stifle it and calling her 'dingbat'.
But where would she go in 1971? Let alone being able to find a shelter? there was no internet and the shelters had to have money in order to operate. Remember these initial projects were founded out of somebody's home themselves. They aren't like today re size either.
The police in that era would not be trained/well trained to recognize this as a crime. They'd treat it as a family issue and leave even if they did come. They would not arrest Archie for personal issues.
We're watching it with 40 etc years increased awareness of what domestic violence is. This is 1971 when the show premired...totally different era.
People calling each other names is hardly domestic abuse. Neither Archie nor Mike would ever have had their wives.
sure it's abuse

abuses is about control and fear. Love is about mutual respect and not calling names. Two totally different concepts.
shareCalling someone a name is rude. It's not the same as abuse. Only someone who's never suffered actual abuse would think otherwise.
