@barber2626 - I've been to many modern day festivals including Bonnaroo 4 years now and a huge factor is that it's on private land. Sure there's security present and rightfully so b/c it can be dangerous but I wouldn't describe it as "hounded by the law". Wakarusa is also on private land. Lollapalooza and HangOut Fest are NOT on private land and I've heard bad stories about the local fuzz busting people for minor infractions like smoking pot but that's never the case at the Roo or Waka for as long as your inside the gate you can light up where ever you please - even right in front of security guards they don't care. While I'm sure Woodstock was much more open remember it was also a completely different generation/time and the point of my post was in terms of music festivals Bonnaroo is as close to Woodstock as you'll find in the world today.
