A couple of days ago I put myself through the dreadful 1954 TV version with Fredric March and I can categorically say that the Finney movie is not the worst, nor even the worst musical version.

i am watching the 1984 version with george c scott. i haven't seen it before.

1984 is my second favorite version behind 1951. I think you'll enjoy it.

My absolute favorite. Scott plays a mean, somewhat scary scrooge which gives the redemption impact.

My favorite adaptation is with George C. Scott, one of my favorite angry man actors of all time. I wish we had guys like that today making movies. Brian Cox is the only one who comes close, but we need more.

I disagree. I thought this was fantastic.

Very sad considering the talent involved and cost. We must remember it is a simple, short story so to blow it up only resulted in it blowing up in THEIR faces. You will notice the best versions are very short and to the point. My favorite is the 1971 cartoon version.
