I cried when i first saw this movie, and do every time i watch it at Christmastime. I cry mostly towards the end, when he's in his bed, saying "I'm alive! I can change, and not be the man i was!!" It fills the heart, knowing that someone can actually see the error of their ways, and be a loving, good-hearted person. Through the visits by the three ghosts, he saw how hateful and miserly he was, how his miserly ways ended his relationship with the woman he was going to marry. He saw his heartless ways, even to charities. Through all these horrible human qualities, he changes. He knew that if he didn't change, he was going to be freezing in hell. It was quite a dark take on the whole "Ghost of Christmas Future" thing in a movie about Ebeneezer Scrooge. It was nice how he was so happy, dancing around his house, when he made the vow to change after seeing that he would have a hellish eternity if he didn't. Then, post-change, he talked to the little boy he met, telling him to go wake the butcher to sell him the prized goose. He said, "I think i'm going to like children!" He thrilled storeowners when purchasing so many presents for people. When he saw his nephew and his wife, and gave them the wedding presents and the champagne, and mentioned that he hoped they could forgive him for missing Christmases past, and how she invited him to Christmas dinner, was very nice. Then, when he gave the gifts to Cratchit's family, it was one of the best parts of the movie. How they were all amazed that it was Mr. Scrooge dressed as Santa Claus, was sweet. When Bob's wife said, "It's Mr. Scrooge! He's gone mad!!" is an awesome part. The look on her face, and how she screams, was classic! When he told Tom Jenkins, the hot soup man, and everyone else, to forget the repayment of the debt that they all owed him, was very generous. When he danced with the whole town, it showed that he did find redemption. It was very sweet. The best part, however, that really struck a chord with me, was when he was at his house at the end of the movie, and was talking to the door knocker as it was Jacob Marley(He was talking to the doorknocker because of the part in the beginning of the movie, when Marley's face appeared on the doorknocker, and growled, "Scrooge"). He said, "I have to leave you now. I have to go get ready. I am having Christmas dinner with my family." It was a very sweet moment and ending to this movie. It was a total contrast between the first time we see Scrooge, and the last. We humans love to see niceness with people. We want to see redemption from evil, hateful cold-heartedness. We want to see people who can change their lives 180 degrees. When Scrooge made the change in that bedroom with the sheets almost suffocating him, you can see the urge to change, as he closed his eyes and said, "I'm ALIVE!!!!!" When he started singing, dancing, and being loving to his fellow townspeople, it was a welcome sight! He got a great Christmas present, the best Christmas present he could ever ask for.
