Why is it not available?!
I am a huge Diana Dors fan and I have also heard this film is excellent! Why is it not available on DVD then? I would love to see it!

shareFor some reason, this has never even been released on VHS in the US. Even in Europe, it a very hard find. There only a couple of resons I can think of:
1) There arelegal problems possibly with the copyright., 2)so off-beat that it's politically incorrect to release (which I do not believe and never will!) 3) Possibly just like they did with a few of their films, Paramount disowned it as it flopped in the box office (and that it did).
I actually called Paramount, and it is not even in their data base. I also have inquired to Anchor Bay and Blue Underground two years ago on releasing this film. Anchor Bay did not respond and Blue Underground said they will not release it at this time. However, they never gave me a reason why. Without a doubt, this is in my top five films of all time, possibly being the best film made of all time.
Who are the companies Anchor Bay and Blue Underground that you inquired to? We need a petition or something!
shareThey are the dvd distrubuters that have coming out with rare films in the lst five to seven years. I had no luck with them, unfortunatly.
shareChrist! Can't see what all the fuss is about!?!?! I watched this grand flick (really love the movie) on public television - in BRAZIL - a good many years ago (dubbed in portuguese, obviously) and decided to give a try via the Mule (where else, eh?) and lo and behold downloaded quite a good copy taped from RAI - in English with Italian subtitles - now go for it! cheers, s., rio.
shareI think perhaps the reason it isn't available is that the distributors are worried that the audience will say :- "Why is this so much better than the rubbish they're turning out now ?" or "Why has film-making gone backwards in the last thirty-five years ?"
The answer I suppose is that these days they only make films for teenagers.
Actually audiences would say, "Why bother releasing this rubbish on DVD when there are so many good movies still not available?". This is one of the most overrated movies on IMDB. A waste of 90 minutes, culminating in the most stupid ending ever.
But, if you must, the film is available via www.cvmc.net.
I've come back to officially disown my previous comments, above. I don't know what was wrong with me when I first watched this movie; maybe I was in a bad mood or something, and took it out on this film.
I watched it again last night, and I must say there were elements in it that were quite good. There was some interesting camera work, especially in the nightclub scene and on the street afterward (the hot dog scene). And some interesting bits - the heavy woman using Our Hero to get herself off was quite funny.
Overall, this is hardly one of the best films ever, as someone seems to think. That is absurd. And I still don't like the ending. It seems there are a number of English and especially French films that end in unneccesary violence, like that is a style or something. But even with that, this is a fun little film that deserves a wider audience - and a good DVD transfer!
Here's hoping, someday...
Hi,
I have Deep End on DVD (a good VHS to DVD transfer).
If you'd like to swap it for something let me know by P Message or email direct at [email protected].
Thanks.
Barry.
"Deep google" (my term for reading all 1,143 pages or so of the searches) and you should be able to locate a dvd for sale of this intriguing period piece. My review is up if you need context.
shareAll: this dvd can be found at revengeismydestiny.com.
shareIt's a fun movie. Maybe not best movie like somebody said but worth checking out. I would also trade this for free and put on DVD for anybody who wants it.

Surely they can get around that. This film, to me, seems like a good contender for the Criterion treatment. All the better for the fact that Paramount no longer owns the rights to it.
"Mother, I am so far away from everything."
i'd buy the rights for 1£, anyone up for it?
