What's that music?

While Pel's wife is waiting for him to come home, she's entertaining an old friend of his. She puts on a LP and it's the theme tune to the movie (played slower). She says the name of it but I can't make it out. It's been bugging me for years. Anybody know what it's called?

I've seen this film at least ten times, and I'm sure she didn't name the song. She said it was popular at the hospital where Pel had been recovering. It's a nice piece of music, haunting and memorable. I'll listen carefully to that scene when I next watch the film.

Thanks that would be great. It's been bugging me for ages!

I've just seen this film having read Roger's autobiography - what a movie! Loved it!
With regards to the music, I would think that the "song" his wife (and his lover) played was scored by the film's composer when he did the rest of the music. I don't know if a soundtrack album was ever produced but that's the only place I would think you would find it.
