Cancer and memorable scenes

My name is Abi and I am a film student working on a research project looking at the impact of the Teenage Romance genre on the presentation of cancer and death. This is part of my primary research so any replies with answers to the following questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. How would you describe the treatment of cancer in this film?
2. In your opinion what was the most memorable scene?

(any personal information will remain confidential, only the answers will be used)

1.The treatment used in this film was of course primitive compared to the ones we have today. She did not lose her hair in the film because it was very taboo back in these days to even discuss or describe cancer in film. The disease is left without a name.

*A BIT OF CINEMA HISTORY INVOLVING CANCER*

Filmakers prior to the 1970's often times used cancers that were "clean" meaning they would not use cancers involving any kind of surgery that would leave a huge impact like Breast cancer as it would involve talking about boobs and hacking them away a taboo subject which women did not discuss alot in the 60's. other cancers not allowed back then in film, would be ovarian, testicular, cervical, prostate, bone. Filmakers often used Brain tumors and leukemia in films because the actors would still look the same, and would not be missing a leg or breast.

Films involving chemo didn't start until the 70's, the first movie would be sunshine (1973) the woman did lose a few strands but didnt go bald, she did throw up, but it wasn't until the 80's with the film Love Lives On (1985) that we see chemo making a person bald. After that every single film involving cancer shows a bald head like that is what depicts cancer, and its so cliche now, many films of the 70's and even in the 80's (terms of endearment) had people going through cancer and chemo and not losing hair.

2. The most memorable scene would be them in the snow playing around when she was well,

Now if you are talking about most memorable after her sickness, then it is very limited as she was sick for about 20 minutes, i would say when jenny and oliver are discussing what will happen as they are hugging and kissing each other at their apartment.
