Does anyone know the name of the tune played in the background during the battle of the *beep* and I think at the Little Big Horn? I believe it came to prominence among cavalry units during the Civil War and was based on a Scottish air.
shareThe song is an Irish jig called "Garryowen". From what I've read, sometime during the Civil War, Custer heard one of his men playing it in camp, liked it, and decided to make it the "theme" of the 7th Cavalry. I haven't been able to find the version used in the movie, though.

Yes it is called Garry Owen, and it is available on many Civil War tapes and Disc's. I have several versions of it and the best in my opinion is by "Bobby Horton" you can buy it from his website.
