Right.
He shot his own men who deserted without giving them a court martial in Kansas. Then he turned around and did the same. He ran back to Ft Hays to see his wife and left some of his men behind to die. He was court martialed and was allowed to come back a year later because he married a politician's daughter who he cheated on with an Indian captive.
He was dead last or almost dead last in his class all through West Point. Then at Little Big Horn he splits his men into three groups and rushed head long into a village of women and children. I guess he wanted another massacre of women and children like he did on the *beep* in the Indian Territory. At *beep* he did the same thing. Left some of his men behind who were killed.
The Indians did the US Army a big favor and put him down like the dog he was.

Custer was also one of the fastest-promoted officers in the history of the US Army. He fought in 8 major cavalry engagements in the Civil War and never lost. He stopped the legendary JEB Stuart at Gettysburg to prevent him from supporting Pickett's charge, possibly saving the whole war for the North. At Appomattox he cut off Lee's retreat and helped bring the war to its conclusion. Grant gave him Lee's surrender table in appreciation and called him maybe the one man most responsible for winning the war. Custer led the victory parade in Washington even though several other generals outranked him.
After the war he was made military governor of Texas and earned the respect and trust of the Texans, because unlike other military governors in the South he stamped out corruption. Prior to the battle at Little Big Horn he had gone to Washington to testify against corruption in the War Department. As a popular and well known military hero, some viewed him as possible Presidential candidate in the 1876 election, had he survived.
