Worst movie Ever

Is it just me or has anyone else felt as though they've just wasted hours of their lives on this terribly bad movie.I always watch a movie to the end but this one was so painful that I could hardly stay awake. It is bland, dull and just totally uninteresting. I have seen films that are about red indians and the fighting that went on but this one was terrible definitely Hoffman's worst movie!

It's just you.
This is an excellent film. "Forrest Gump" (Oscar winner-Best Picture..should've gone to Pulp Fiction..but...oh well..) is a copy of it.
Hoffman was on top and could work with the best. He did.

Oh Yeah ! Never made that connection before & they are both my favorite Films !

IT'S YOU!

No it's not just you. While there are fine performances throughout and masterful direction it's the heavy handed delivery of evil white man message every 5 minutes or so that makes this film nearly unwatchable.
We get it...Indians - noble and wise, whites - loud and stupid.
There is little need to pound the message home every few minutes.
Also the ADR is just *beep* stupid. Why Hoffman's character switches between a normal delivery and a country southwestern/southern accent is bewildering.
Dick Smith knocked one out of the ball park with his brilliant foam latex design.

No it very obviously does NOT make "the heavy handed delivery of evil white man message every 5 minutes" nor does it argue that Indians were all noble and wise. As a matter of fact, the natives were often depicted as quite foolish, ridiculous people whose faith in their spirits frequently appeared as delusional as white manĀ“s faith in their god or whatever. Both sides were made fun of on a regular basis.

But the fact remains that what whites perpetrated back in the day on the native Indians did amount to a genocide... and the film does not shy away from the fact that USA as we know it is founded upon a pool of blood.

It's just you. Although not all that subtle, this was a nuanced and very human allegory that did an exceedingly good job of telling a story about the way people are, particularly in their societies, without spoon feeding the message. The humor, pacing, and style are certainly from another era, but that doesn't diminish the story. I hope you give it another try with a different set of expectations. It's really one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I remember when I saw this movie many years ago, I wanted to be different.. I wanted to live like the indians.. it never happened. But it was strong

I thought it was wonderful-and I usually don't even like Westerns, but I loved the history, and especially the Native American aspects of the movie.

One of the best movies ever period, as a western it's not up there with once upon a time in the west but this is not just a western and it's perspective is very differnt from any other film set in this period in the west.
don't quite see what sfx and sound fx have to do with the quality of a movie i also do not see why a film being in colour or black and white is relevent to how good a film is???
i give this movie a solid 8.5
