Across the Universe

I have a version of Across the Universe with talk before the track ("You're right Richie" or something like that) with alot of backwards guitar and no fade out at the end, and I can find no information on this version. It seems to be the same take as the official version, running at correct speed at 3:46. If anyone has any info on the version I'm talking about please respond, I'm really curious.

Where did you find it?

reply

It was on download (LimeWire), I thought it was the official version, but when I found out it wasn't I downloaded four (!) other versions, each one very different from each other and all of them official versions (Let It Be, Let It Be... Naked, Past Masters II and Anthology 3).

i downloaded the same exact version from limewire. the file name says its an extremely rare psychadelic version or something like that..but yeah thats weird i dont know what the whole richie thing was about.

reply

Maybe it's one of old Glyn Johns' versions, I know he prepared one for 'Get Back'

reply

i've heard this version too. i dont know where it came from but i think its the best version and i was dissapointed not that its not on the let it be album

reply

that version is on the anthology 2 disc 2. at least im pretty sure because they sound exact. if im right they just cut off whatever john lennon is saying in the beginning of the bootleg track.

I haven't heard it for ages, but is that the same one with the girls singing on it, the early version that appeared later on Rarities?

reply
