On The Conformist when Marcello gets off the train at Venti Miglia(That's the place, right?) the fellow in front of the camera looks EXACTLY like Sutherland in 1900! Did anyone else ever notice that? I noticed that since I first saw it and still grabs me everytime I watch the film.
shareI'll have to have a look next time I watch it, but I'd be surprised if it's him. 1900 was released six years after The Conformist - I could imagine Sutherland doing a cameo in one of Bertolucci's later films as a favour/in-joke, but it would be bizarre for him to do so when they had had (as far as I'm aware) no previous collaborations.
