How is this a version of La dolce vita?

I have seen both movies and I remember them as different.
Can someone elaborate?

Check under movie connections. It says that this is a remake.

This is not a remake of any movie. The story was written by Alberto Moravia as anti fascist book. Fellini's 8 1/2 tells the story of a director. How can you compare them? From your question it seems you have not watched them...

They're well made Italian films. The comparisons pretty much end there.

I read something different in that entry than you do: I think that what it means to say is that a version of La Dolce Vita has clips of The Conformist "edited into" it.

No, the 'edited into' titles are listed below 'La Dolce Vita'; it's simply a mistake.
