Pretentious Bore!

You must be joking, it's a brilliant psychosexual thriller.

i tend to agree with the OP as about the only thing the movie has going for it is the visuals.

the movie is pretty dull/boring overall as i made it 1hr 5min into it before i could not take it any longer and turned it off. i just attempted to watch it a moment ago.

p.s. for the record... it's not often i see movies that are so boring that i cannot finish them. but it happens here and there.

This film is artwork. They don't make great films (or great directors) anymore. They make big budgeted crap!

1970... What matched this in that era? It was ORIGINAL. That itself speaks volumes. It was that time of experimentation. I see some Scorsese in there, a lot of the French New Wave. Idk how it bored people that much... Must be the Subtitles, weak viewer

Are you really asking for a more pretentious, boring movie or is that just hypothetical? I could practically rattle off half of the films that have won the Palm d'Or at Cannes or an Oscar and still not have touched Godard's catalogue.

At least Bertolucci got it under two hours.
