Excellent movie

Im surprised it's only got a 7.0 rating since I give it an 8.5. I havent read the book and judging from the comments, I'd think less of the movie but I'm glad to be able to consider this film on its own merits. Arkin and the rest of the cast did a really good job. As one of the reviewers here mentioned, watching a film like this today reminds us just how much Hollywood has changed. I don't think a film like this could be made today. It would cost too much to be independantly produced unless lame CGI replaced all the bombers and demolition scenes.

I'm glad I watched this movie. I had seen a clip a few weeks ago where Well's character is awarding the meddle to the naked Yossarian and based on that I assumed the entire movie was a screwball comedy. Glad I decided to watch it anyway.
