Best hardback edition of the book?
I’m looking to replace my first edition hardback print of Catch-22 that was given to me by a mum many years ago. It’s become so dog-eared I’m now afraid to read it for fear of it falling apart and wish to keep it preserved while it’s still in one piece (just).
I’m aware of all the editions out there by ISBN and publication date but I haven’t seen or held all of them. While I don’t expect anyone to be familiar with materials and type fonts, I’m hoping someone frequenting this board owns a well-made hardback edition (with dustjacket, would be sweet) that has either a preface by Heller, or an introduction and can made a recommendation. Ideally, I’d prefer an edition published by Simon & Schuster (I’m familiar with most of the Vintage prints).
Any recommendations will be gratefully received.
I realise the Books or Joseph Heller boards would be considered the more appropriate places for a post of this nature but discussions about Heller rarely crop up on the Books board. The Joseph Heller board is a barren wasteland, so here seems the best choice given the relatively frequent traffic on this board.
