Sadly, its shape is just barely visible now in the satellite shots. The lower end (near the shoreline) is mostly built over with small houses or other structures, and what survives of the rest of it (on the other side of the road that now cuts across it) is more an "impression" on the earth. It looks like the asphalt is gone or nearly so. They either tore it up or have simply allowed it to deteriorate over these 47 years.
As a private pilot I had the pleasure of flying past it on a flying excursion into Mexico in 1979. The paved runway and unpaved taxiways still looked great. I still have the couple of pictures I took, but I really regret not having taken the time to descend and get some good close ones.
In an early 1970s airport guidebook, the author states "This airport isn't open to the public, but it's a beauty. The movie company will be shooting some more aviation films and they want to keep the pattern clear for their mass formation takeoffs and flyovers." I have no idea if that ever happened.
