METV took 'The Odd Couple' off their schedule!

I had thought that it was just for the summer. But it's off there completely!

reply

I mean, we got all of six episodes, I'm pissed.

Then they should be renamed Meh TV.

I actually don't mind that much. I love the show, but let's face it, every episode is available on DVD. I'd actually prefer if MeTV focused on lost shows that can't be seen anywhere else, including DVD, Netflix and Hulu. I'm glad they have Batman and Green Hornet. Other shows I wouldn't mind include Search and Name of the Game. Later seasons of McCloud, Paper Chase, Love Boat, Love American Style, Benson, CHiPs and Growing Pains, all of which the studios have abandoned after their first couple of seasons on DVD. Alice only recently got its first season on DVD after 36 years. They could show Automan and Masquerade. Even if they only showed programs otherwise unavailable like these instead of shows overexposed on cable channels and DVDs, they would have plenty to fill the schedule for every hour of every day for years. There are some shows that will probably never make it to DVD, like Tribeca, Gideon Oliver, BL Stryker, Mr. Merlin, Good Heavens, Hooperman, Enos, Holmes & YoYo. Peruse any old TV guide from the 70s and 80s and I'm sure you'll find quite a few prime time shows that haven't been seen on any media in the US in decades. Heck, how about bringing back the ABC Movie of the Week?

reply

You mentioned "Benson" .Season 1's on DVDs in the stores . Season 2 is on DVD too but only through amazon.com.

reply

Notice I wrote, "all of which the studios have abandoned after their first couple of seasons on DVD." Benson took five years between first and second seasons. Growing Pains about six years with no third season in sight. At this rate, I'll likely be dead before they get to the final seasons. McCloud got one US DVD set eight years ago, which is especially galling because all seasons to the seventh and last have been released in Denmark, but not in the country that originally made the show a hit.

Many of the other shows haven't even been seen in years if not decades. I doubt anybody under the age of 45 even knows Search or Name of the Game ever existed. Would it be so terrible to see things long buried like Head of the Class or Covington Cross again?

IT'S BACK ON METV!!! Patience is a virtue!!!

reply

It's back, weeknights at 10 !!

Bruce Lee was real. Batman was never real.

reply

It's baaaaaack.

reply

...and it's gone again!

Man, they axed The Odd Couple from Fridays, The Twilight Zone from 9:30PM M-F, AND Star Trek at 4:00PM all at the same time.

There's nothing left on MeTV that I want to watch!

Hope they come back in the Fall.

reply

WPIX in New York had the greatest three-show lineup in TV history. 11:00 pm: The Honeymooners. 11:30 : The Odd Couple. 12:00 midnight: Star Trek.

MeTV could easily recreate this. And at the same times!

reply

Yes indeed. Once I finally got The Odd Couple I did exactly that (usually at an earlier time).😀
