Mary's Career After This Show

She had two successful shows - Dick Van Dyke and this one, but strangely enough, she couldn't score another TV hit afterwards. There was Mary (1978), The Mary Tyler Moore Hour (1979) and another show called Mary (1985). All didn't last long at all. I wonder why she was unable to continue on with TV success?

Well, she made some Movies along the way too. Maybe she wanted more of a movie career but it did not last long. Plus, she had health issues and her son died.

That's so sad. I watched the interview in 1979 with Barbara Walters. Mary said she she had her son when she was 18 and did not know how to care for him. She then said that now that she is older, she always thought about adopting a child. Unfortunately, it looks like she never did.

I'd like to see the Mary (1985) take off. Of course I would like to see The Betty White Show not be cancelled either. And ... I wanted to see Mary And Rhoda develop into a TV show.

On the PBS special she just smiled and said the shows didn't hit.

But she got an Oscar nom and a Tony.

Unfortunately, sometimes that happens. The same could be said for Carol Burnett who never could make a show a hit after Gary Moore and The Carol Burnett Show.

People still love them but they don't want to allow them to move on to something else.

There was 'Annie Mcguire" after that, which also failed

She had 77 acting credits listed on IMBD. Plus she acted on stage. She had had a long successful career after the MTM show.
