I'll choose one from an episode you've already referenced:

The Twelve Days Of Christmas from Not A Christmas Story. That one was hilarious.

Glad to.see you've got Georgette's "Steamed Heat" at the top of your list. It truly was a showstopping moment and an unexpected surprise to see the repressed and mousey Georgette come to life on stage and belt it out with a sultriness we could never have expected.

Ted sings the school song he wrote in the episode "Ted Baxter's Famous Broadcasters' School" (sung to the tune of the Notre Dame fight song):

We have no gym
And we have no pool,
But we have heart
At Tedbaxtersfamousbroadcastersschool!

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

Although on the DVD's Ted sings what sounds like "Oh, Teddy Boy..." followed by vocalize in "Mary's Three Husbands," the original song has been replaced. You can tell because A) the lips movements don't match, and B) it's not Ted Knight's voice.

I'm virtually certain that the original song sung by Ted at that point was "Tonight" from "West Side Story." I think all he sings of it is "Tonight, tonight won't be just any night..." which makes a lot more sense in the circumstances.

"Tonight" was no doubt replaced due to music licensing issues when it came time to make the DVD's. There are other songs on MTM which had similar issues.

For instance, in "Christmas and the Hard Luck Kid II," Mary sings a portion of "White Christmas" as she works alone Christmas Eve. You won't find that on the DVD's.

"WKRP," "The Wonder Years," and even "The Odd Couple" all ran afoul of music licensing issues when they were released on DVD. In the "Odd Couple," the final moment of the series was simply deleted on DVD because, after Felix remarries his wife, Oscar breaks into song and dance with a rendition of "Singin' in the Rain."

"The Bob Newhart Show" often used spoken song lyrics as jokes and even some of those were cut on the DVD's.

Very interesting.

Another series with this issue, and which had to make replacements for DVDs, was Wiseguy.

The "Complete Series" DVD of Buffalo Bill (the Dabney Coleman sitcom) is missing one entire episode for that reason -- even though the song part probably lasted only two or three minutes. Why couldn't they have just omitted those two or three minutes -- or omitted the sound track?
