I do as well. Those are my favorite scenes - the ones that take place in her old apartment. Similarly, the best episodes of Murder She Wrote are the ones that take place in Cabot Cove.
shareI agree. When I'm in the mood for MTM, the episodes from 1970-74 are the ones I think of first. For one thing, Rhoda is still around. You're right about that apartment: it looked so much more cozy, warm, and "lived in" than the rather sterile highrise she moved into when Mary Richards was becoming upwardly mobile. It almost looked like an inferior clone of the apartment in The Bob Newhart Show.
shareYes! I do. As a kid watching the reruns on Nick at Nite, I thought that Mary's apartment was so charming, pretty, and a perfect representation of the 70s. The coziness, the huge picture window--it's an iconic set. I always even kinda fantasized about having a place like that!

It's like Mary's hair. The first two years she had that girlish "fall" and the tiny apartment atop an old victorian house.
Next, she had the shorter hair and still had the old apartment.
Then, in the last two years, she still had the shorter hair but also now had the new apartment.
It's all part of her development, so I'm fine with all of it.
But, of course, the first home you think of for Mary is that first studio apartment.
