Barbara Colby (Cherie the Hooker) for a Rhoda replacement ?

I had a funny thought last night.
Cherie (the Hooker) was "reformed" in her second appearance on the MTM show. Would it have been interesting (if Barbara Colby had lived--and not sadly been murdered) and have her move down the block from Mary and be her new friend? Hmmmmmmmm......
The dynamic may have worked ?
She also could have had combative moments with Sue Ann ? Barbara Colby was perfect on the show!

I wish Colby had been kept on as a regular on MTM but they ended up putting her on Phyllis instead--a show that seemed to be accursed from the start and is all but forgotten now. It's tragic about Colby. She had an inimitable way of delivering a line that could bring the house down--sort of like Bea Arthur.

Both Phyllis and Rhoda were mismanaged up by the MTM "machine" . At least with Rhoda we got a pretty good (not great) Season 1. (Why oh why didn't they make her single & dating for the FIRST year - then marry Joe at the start of Season 2 ? )
And with Phyllis we got half a dozen good / funny episodes-- here and there - mostly because of Mother Dexter. Liz Torres was a decent Colby replacement -- I actually could not think of anyone better. If a hairdo could crash a series into the ground- her Season 2 hairdo could do it!
