When Colonel Turner was exposed and about to jump from the plane he was still in possession of all the notebooks. Smith asked him to give them over a few seconds before he jumped to his death.

(Can't remember whether or not the plane door was open at this point)

I wonder why Turner didn't jump before Smith or anyone else had a chance to grab them back. Maybe he was had just given up and was past caring but if it had been me, I would have jumped and had the last laugh. The whole mission would have been for nothing.

Ha that's a good point. I'll have to rewatch. Is the door open when he says that he'll take the books? If not, then I bet Leftenant Schaffer would have blown his head off if he tried anything.

when was colonel turner exposed?
i never saw him take his clothes off on the plane?

He took his clothes off in that small back room that Mary Ure had been hiding in

The plane door was closed and Clint had a gun aimed at him at this point also, so wouldn't of got close to opening and jumping out the door.

This is true. He wouldn't have got far. The door was definitely still closed at that point.

The novel addresses that, in fact. In it, Turner is given one of the notebooks to peruse, and he tosses it out the door as he's about to jump to his death. Smith smiles and calmly tells him that there are two more copies. Turner stares at Smith and then simply jumps.
