How is this not Argento's best work!?
Sure, SURPIRIA will always be the go-to Argento because of the GOBLINS score, and that first stained-glass kill that forever makes "ALL TIME BEST KILLS" lists.
But I don't understand how DEEP RED so often takes the first or second spot on Argento lists... I though this one was outstanding. One of the few of his that a modern audience can still watch without laughing all the way through it. Believeable characters and dialogue, kills that are violent, but not ridiculously gory or brutal beyond reality, music that is appropriate to the scenes and doesn't make you cringe, and a tight and thrilling plot.... I think Arento started at the top of a mountain, and his entire career has been a slow descent since...
