Was Mattie wearing black nylons?

Late in the movie, Mattie is seen sleeping under a cave-like rock ledge. As she rises in the morning, it seems obvious she is wearing black nylons under her skirt. Could the filmmakers possibly have overlooked such a blatant anachronism, or was it actually a period piece of clothing of some kind?

Long black stockings were worn by women and girls in the 19th century. I needed them once for a period play in community theatre.

That IS a goof. It has been listed here - in goofs.

"When Mattie is emerging from her sleeping area when they are close to Lucky Ned Pepper's hideout; it is evident that she is wearing a form of black nylon tights. Not something you would see in the 1870's.

Haven't you ever heard of Pippi Longstocking?

No, she wouldn't have been wearing nylons of any color, because nylon itself didn't exist in the 1870's, more like 1938-39. Her black stockings could've been cotton, wool, or some combination (linsey-woolsey?)
