Something in the goofs page

It has Kim Darby's hairstyle is from the '60s. So? I see afros today, and that is a '60s/'70s thing. It doesn't mean people can't have them. That was the style Mattie wore. So what?

The goof is referring to the fact that the movie took place in the 1870's, but the hairstyle she wore wasn't worn until 90 years later.

Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!

Right but I don't think that means you can't have it. It might not have been popular to have that hairstyle when the movie was set but it is possible to have it. Perhaps a bad example but someone could be in a movie today with bellbottoms. It isn't a goof because, well, that guy just wanted to wear bellbottoms.

That's a stupid thing to put on.Clint Eastwood clearly has a sixties hairstyle in the Dollar films but I wouldn't post that on the goofs. Some people are idiots.

Mattie's close-cropped hairstyle is meant to show her rejection of the feminine image that's expected of her. She's her own person, looking and acting as she darn well pleases according to her own standards. The fact that her hairstyle isn't "traditional" is hardly surprising.

Besides being a "tomboy," she also lived on a working ranch. Wouldn't a woman want to her hair short to avoid getting too many insects in it as well as not getting it caught in tree branches, spider webs, or caught on fire.

May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?

It was a page boy cut. She had the same style years before in episodes of TV Westerns.
