Is it true?


I heard from a friend that in the film, Federico Fellini actually paid a man to have his hand cut off, in order to add the element of realism, & i was wondering if it was true?

No, I guess you're referring to the scene at the theatre?
It's this way:
The actors(played by the real actors) pay a man to have his hand cut off.
In reality all this is a trick (fake hand cut off).
Fellini later referred to this scene, "that it's like as if one's dignity is cut off".
No people were harmed while producing the film (but some animals I guess...).
