Film disowned?

Is it true that Fellini wanted his name removed from the finished film, or was that some of the actors? Thanks in advance for any information about this.

In all my Fellini readings (the books are listed here http://imdb.com/board/bd0000032/flat/41114571; the interviews and film script books are missing from the list) as yet I never came across anyone who wanted their names removed from the film, Fellini is the most unlikely of all, and why should he? I couldn't exclude it was one of the actors, though, but I've no idea who.

Perhaps you mean that he wanted his name removed from the title "Fellini Satyricon"...

Oh, so that's what the OP wanted to know, I had missed the meaning of the question.

Yes, it's more or less as you say, except that it was a case of 2 producers against each other. After Fellini had announced he was going to make "Satyricon", the producer Alfredo Bini who already in 1962 wanted to produce a Satyricon film hastened to have another film of the same title made by Polidoro in a very short time. It was Fellini's producer Grimaldi who lost the case against Bini, that's why Fellini's film got the title "Fellini Satyricon".
