Fellini's or Polidoro's...which version is better?
I have just recently seen the Polidoro version which was made at the same time as this one and actually was registered a year sooner. UA bought the rights to it to prevent competition with Fellini's film. I can see why they did...
Although Fellini's film is visually splendid, Polidoro's version has more humanity in its characters and is ultimately more satisfying, most certainly funnier and sadder. It's a shame that audiences outside of Europe were denied the chance to see it.
