Richard Simmons is in this movie ? ? ? ? ? ?
The biography page for Fellini on IMDB is saying that Richard Simmons, fitness guru, has a small roll in this movie.
Can anyone confirm or deny? Show me where in this movie Simmons is!

No, I cannot only not confirm, but can't believe it! He's nowhere to be found in the list of credits above! He would have been fat back then, right?
I believe the picture shown here is what I remember seeing on the A & E biography. The article questions if it's really him or not.

Fascinating, the picture seems like a rather interesting "past life" possibility. Whoever he is, there seems to be somewhat of a resemblance in the nose, lips and body hair growth pattern.
shareUh, how do you know about Richard Simmons' body hair growth pattern?
shareDuh, are you looking at the suggested photograph? Note the eyebrow structure, hairy forearm and the seemingly visible chest hair in a straight line similar to more recent photographs. In addition the tip of the nose and the shape of the mouth appear similar.

This movie definitely has the essence of Richard Simmons all over it.
shareWhy would Richard Simmons have been in Rome in 1969?
shareReportedly, while attending Florida State University, he became an exchange student and moved to Florence, Italy for a time. He graduated with a B.A. Degree in Art.
shareFact: Richard Simmon is in the beginning of the movie when the very beautiful Martin Potter takes Giton to the "apartment" complex where they are staying. As they are climbing up the stairs they pass a man sitting on the floor playing an instrument that resembles a guitar. In Richard's biography from A&E, they stated that Richard had become very good friends with a relative of Fellin's and got the very small role. He was in front of the camera for about 2 seconds.
shareWhat an interesting, seemingly pre-determined tapestry of circumstances and people coming together at just the right time that enabled Richard to have a cameo within the context of this cinematic experience. I seem to remember reading about at least a couple of famous actors being initially approached to star in the film who didn't make it and at least a few more who visited the set in production but, nonetheless, where not included in the film.
The ironic thing is that most people looking at the man that is claimed to be Richard would have no idea concerning the identity of the actor. My guess is that one-hundred years from now the film will still be around; however, will the same be true of Richard's exercise videos?

Richard who?
Seriously, don't have to wait that long, Richard Simmons 15 minutes were up LONG ago. About the only thing that will last is the plastic from his videos in landfills all over the country.
I could be mistaken, but I thought it was Fellini's "Roma" that Simmons appeared in. And a lot of wandering souls were in Rome at that time...myself included.
shareebm83: Hmmm, here's another dumb question, why would Clint Eastwood have been in Spain in 1964? Probably because he was hired to act in Sergio Leone's "A Fistful of Dollars", that's why. LOL
I'M A TRAVELING SALESPERSON. I SELL BANJOS.

It was a question on Jeopardy once.
When he was a fatty & living in Italy, Richard Simmons appeared in the food orgy scene in Fellini's film Satyricon.

found him, he's playing a harp...
Simmons would have been 20 or 21 when this film was made. He did not get into fitness until years later.
Could he have been in catering? He got a job as a maitre d' in 1970.
The insane part of all this is that Richard Simmons and his lyre is one of the key components of this film. His somber facial expression and stark, gorgeous melody is one of the only warm human moments in Satyricon, and is contrasted with the hedonism and frenzy of the surrounding public. It is an eerie and brilliant touch that this seemingly out-of-place moment is returned to during the final frames, as the elegant & indelible harp becomes the soundtrack to the passage of history and Fellini's final meditation on the fresco paintings. Richard Simmons. Who woulda thunk!
shareHe is listed as "Nymphomaniac's slave."
Nice work if you can get it.
