Love this movie!

I don't care what the naysayers blather, I love this movie. I love the fact that, other than Harve Presnell, the main actors aren't professional singers. I love the story, scenery and score. I like it that the movie is dirty and gritty, at a time when most musicals were clean, neat and predictable. I love Lee Marvin's grainy singing voice and Clint Eastwood's low soulful tones. This movie has some of the best repartee and one liners of any musical out there.
The supporting cast is just great, with so many different characters and interactions. Ray Walston is priceless, as is Tom Ligon. This movie gets more and more appreciated as it ages.

This is one of my favorite musicals and is totally under-rated. Lee Marvin is a classic with his line delivery and facial expressions. Clint is just total hotness, I'd run off to the mountains and talk to the trees with him! I remember as a kid, sitting in front of my mom's stereo with my younger brother and sister, playing her 33 LP and singing the songs together. I just watched it today after years of not seeing it and can still sing along with all the songs. They always put me in a happy mood!

I just watched this movie again last night. I can't believe so many people don't like it, it's so much fun! I was on a Clint Eastwood kick a couple years ago and I got this movie from the library thinking it was going to be this innocent G-rated musical, but it was nothing of the sort. It's so risque! I love that about it.

Yes, this evening I was reading Harve Presnell's bio on IMDB and couldn't believe it when it mentioned Paint Your Wagon as "disastrous." I'm 39 years old now (it came out around the time I was born). I first saw it when I was about 16 or 17, and it has been a steady favorite with me ever since then. I adore the fact that Hollywood used non-singers as the leading actors. Lee Marvin was perfect, and I thought Clint Eastwood was actually quite good. I think that the film Paint Your Wagon is a manly man's musical, and perhaps that is part of its poor reviews. It may not be Singin' in the Rain, but Paint Your Wagon is a true classic, a film that thumbs its nose at the reviewers. It has held up over time.

Love this movie. Love Eastwood singing Talk to the Trees, also.

This movie is awesome. My dad watched it a lot when I was a kid, so I have a certain nostalgia towards it. But, now that I'm older and watched it through all the way a few times, I got to say I really love it too.
