Cover Art on 1969 Album

this is completely off the topic of how wonder the movie is BUT I have always loved the painting of the wagon train which segues into the opening scenes of the movie.

There is a name on the back of the album cover with a date of '48 but I cannot read the name. I've checked various website but there isn't any reference to the orginal album cover.

any help would be appreciated.

Thank you so very much! I would have never been able to figure that out based on the signataure alone. Now, I just have to find out if I can buy a print.
