I can't believe its taken me this many years to realise that producer/writer/lyricist Alan Jay Lerner has a cameo in the film.
During the "There's A Coach Coming In" number, he's singing standing on the log next to William O'Connell.
Yes he played a member of the town council. But is not credited.

shareNo, that really is him. He may have been featured more prominently in another scene that was cut, but I have a press photo from the film of him in costume, chatting with Joshua Logan (who isn't in costume, needless to say).
Lerner looks a little different in costume and make-up, and minus glasses, but in close-up he is easily recognizable, in the costume from the "There's a Coach Comin' In" number.
I can't find the image on Google, and I don't have a scanner, but rest assured that's him!
