Title

Did anyone else find it disconcerting that no wagons are painted throughout the entire film?

"On the run from Johnny Law, ain't no trip to Clevland."

reply

No not really. After all they were probably too busy in the saloons!

reply

Bear in mind that this film is only marginally related to the original play from which it took its title, least of all its plot. The title had meaning for that play.

I've never had a chance to see the stage show, but I always took the title to simply be a way of saying "get your wagon ready".

"Got a dream boy?
Got a song?
Paint your wagon
And come along"

reply

With alcohol, maybe.. Or those french tarts getting their wagon painted with mud (not to mention themselves) :)

Who did the artwork for the opening credits background?

reply

The credits say: Titles designed by David Stone Martin

Looks like he was famous for jazz album covers:

If that kind of thing bothers you, do NOT see "To Kill A Mockingbird".
