Question for Musical Lovers

Is Hello Dolly a truely inspiring and moving musical?
We started production of it at my school, but I've actually never seen it even though I'm in it.

I know it's good, but is it really really good? will we have full houses each night and will people be talking about it for weeks like they did for Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables?

Anywhere you go, let me go too...that's all I ask of you

Here is my Hello, Dolly story-

Our school was doing the play for awhile and I was in it but I didn't really have a role at all and I was annoyed with the director so I quit. A couple of months later I saw Meet the Fockers and I thought Barbra Streisand (not really knowing who she was) was pretty funny. Then I saw the box of Hello, Dolly at my grandfathers house and I was like hey! that was the lady in Meet the Fockers so I decided to watch it. When Barbra Streisand did the opening song I absolutely fell in love with her and the movie. I was SOOOO inspired. To this day I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Barbra Streisand fan- like obsessed. And I LOVE Hello, Dolly. I am 14 and I am a huge musical lover and I highly suggest this movie. Great music, acting and it was very funny! Let me know if you watch it!

Lorelai:The government will close that day.Barbra Streisand will give her final concert... again.

Totally loved this one! I know she got a lot of flack for it, but I think she rocked. It would be interesting to see her do a remake. She is more the age Dolly Levi was supposed to be, and Barbra herself has had more life experience. I think the way she approached the character would be really different.

She got a lot of flack, eh? I can't see why, I mean, she just completely stole every scene she was in. She is just such a fantastic performer, she just ran away with film. I thought she was amazing.

I have heard criticisms that she was too young for the part of Dolly Levi, but she is such a clever actor that I don't think it matters.

This is one of my all-time fave musicals, too.

I would hardly call HELLO DOLLY! inspiring or moving...it's a musical with a modicum of fun and can be a very entertaining show if cast properly. but there's nothing deep or meaningful about it, no.
