Where's the church?

Is the church in the last scene of the movie a real church on the Hudson? The Hudson river valley is a beautiful area; it's one of my favorite parts of the movie.

It was a set for the film. That area is the bandstand area of the Point.

The church scence was shot at West Point, the scenes of "Yonkers" were shot in Garrison, (my home town). The scene at Vandergelder's store are interesting because the place portrayed as the basement was actually the first floor of the building, and the store was actually the second floor.

Carly - it's been a while since I have seen it, but I thought the church scene was shot in Cold Spring, at that little church on the hilltop overlooking the river? I am from Cold Spring. Like I said, it's been many years since I've seen the movie, so I may be mistaken.

Are you still in Garrison? Such a beautiful place. I miss that area. I am no longer in the area unfortunately, but I get back as often as I can to visit.

The church at the end of the movie was a facade constructed on Trophy Point at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY. It was torn down after the scene was filmed. The view of the church is looking north past Stormking Mountain toward Newburgh, NY. In the summertime the spot the church stood on is used for band and glee club concerts. It was also used at one time for summertime outdoor church services when cadets had mandatory chapel, and perhaps still is. The song that culminates in the wedding scene was also filmed at Trophy Point, mostly looking back uphill from the area of the church facade.
