Was there a second movie?
Was there ever a second movie made that continues where this first movie concluded? I would be interested to see the second movie if one exists and if it doesn't then they should consider making one!

shareNo movie sequel, but two written sequels exist. They are "The Fall of Colossus", which I highly recommend especially for it's equally chilling ending and "Colossus and the Crab", which I am afraid I have a much lesser opinion of and would rather forget about.
shareIn a way sequels have been made...
Have you ever noticed that there is a CHRONOLOGY OF SCIENCE-FICTION? I have.
You could say that Terminator is the sequel to Colossus and The Matrix is a sequel to the Terminator movies and Dune is the next step in the logical progression in the obscurely semi-connected sci-fi universe.
This is one of my favorite movies and am excited that it's finally hitting DVD,albeit in a full screen version.I was wondering if you knew where I could find these sequel scripts in some form?...I would love to be able to read them.Thanks.
sharei think votok meant there are two additional novels, not scripts.
my guess is look around on ebay -- they might be selling cheap.
I am not so sure we need a remake or even a sequel to this classic. It's one of my favoriate movies.
Think about how many movies & TV shows that have been made where the computer takes over the world from man. Think Terminator, Matrix, Demon Seeed, various episodes of Star Trek, and Outer Limits. This story has been told and re-told.
Let the classic stay a classic.
I'd pick Denzel Washington if they did remake it. I can picture him standing there at the end, telling Colossus, that mankind will not give up and will eventually find a way to beat it. I guess it would be similar to the end of Fallen.

Any reason why Eric Braden couldn't reprise his role as Forbin?
An older and wiser Forbin to battle Colossus.

Thought the ending was left like that specifically for a sequel to be made. Very surprised that one has not followed. Oh well, If anyone has a spare $200 million I'll gladly make Colossus II. Good film, abrupt ending.
sharei spent a long time trying to find the follow up books, the fall of colossus and colossus and the crab.
in the intervening years i'd imagined how the story could develop (example; maybe set them 5000 years in the future, with colossus still in control and forbins mind transferred to a cybernetic barin!).
sadly, the sequel books weren't as good. still ok, but with some major changes to timelines (obviously, the world had changed a lot etween mid 60s and early-mid 70s).
so, if a sequel was ever to be made, i'd hope it wasn't based on the books!

A sequel is a good idea, and I am sure they would have gone with it, provided the BOX OFFICE from this film was big enough.
I do recall that SCI-FI was not a big genre in the 1970's, at least not as big as it could be.
Of course, "Star Wars" changed the landscape completely.
I guess "Colossus" was too much of a downer to warrant a remake, though I would think now would be a better time to reconsider.
If the story and production values were good enought, GO WITH IT !!!!!!!!!
RE: "too much of a downer to warrant a remake"
Mostly why Colossus didn't do well at the box office, and thus prolly why they didn't consider doing a sequel. It didn't help matters that the film was also living in the shadow of "2001" and they really didn't have a clue how to market it. Colossus was done before "2001" but release was delayed almost a year after "2001" showed that 'yes, evil computer movies can mean big bucks' Unfortunately Colossus didn't benefit from Hal.
